My journey to the National Games
Hi everyone, my name is Nathan Whitty. I am very honoured for the opportunity to participate at the Special Olympics Australia National Games for my first time. I will be representing Team New South Wales for Swimming in Melbourne. I cannot wait to meet and be inspired by other athletes across the country.
I am thrilled not only for participating at the Games but celebrating 50 years of Special Olympics Australia with great passion! This Polar Plunge challenge means a lot to us as it raises funds for the National Games. Some encouragement from you, every donation, big or small, will help make a real difference.
I am immensely grateful for my family, friends and others for supporting and motivating me to chase my goals at the National Games in Melbourne. We are working our best to make an impact for our inclusive community and raise awareness for Special Olympics.
Dee Why (Saturday, 1st August 2026)
On Saturday, 1st August 2026, I’m taking the plunge in Dee Why - literally. I’m jumping into icy water as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s Polar Plunge, raising funds for Special Olympics in Australia.
Why? Because every Australian deserves the opportunity to experience the joy, confidence and connection that sport brings.
Special Olympics Australia provides year-round sports training and competition for people with intellectual disability and/or autism. Through sport, athletes build skills, friendships, independence and belief in themselves - and that impact extends far beyond the playing field.
By supporting my Polar Plunge, you’re helping:
- Fund inclusive sports programs across Australia
- Provide coaching, equipment and competition opportunities
- Create communities where everyone belongs
- Break down barriers and build a more inclusive Australia
Yes, it will be cold … very cold. But it’ll be worth it!
If you can, please donate and help me reach my fundraising goal. Every dollar makes a difference.
Together, we’re freezin’ for a reason.
