Let your work have an impact on a sporting field

Special Olympics gives people with intellectual disabilities (ID) the confidence they need to succeed, on and off the playing field.

We help more than 7,000 annual participants. Yet there are 711,000 people in Australia with an intellectual disability waiting on the sidelines to get in the game. Will you give them a chance?

Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Our athletes find joy, confidence and fulfillment -- on the playing field and in life. They also inspire people in their communities and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.

In Special Olympics, the power and joy of sport, shifts focus to what our athletes CAN do, not what they can't. Attention to disabilities fades away. Instead, we see our athletes' talents and abilities -- and applaud them for all that they can do. And they are doing a lot -- from gymnastics to soccer to open-water swimming. With our Olympic-style sports, we offer adults and children with intellectual disabilities many ways to be involved in their communities, many ways to show who they really are.

"The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community."

Benefits of being a Workplace Giving Donor

_____________________________________________

Every two hours a child is diagnosed with an intellectual disability bringing the population of Australians living with the condition to over 700,000.

Special Olympics Australia is a national charity that provides regular sport, competition and social support for people with an intellectual disability.

If only 5,000 Australian employees donated just $5 per month through workplace giving, 4,000 athletes with an intellectual disability could experience a year of sport at Special Olympics Australia.

**If you are wanting to match your employee’s contribution, please fill and submit the inquiry form below.

Showing your support is easy

Through our workplace giving program we’ve made it easy for you to help Special Olympics athletes achieve their personal best.

By donating just $5 through your payroll, you will receive a tax deduction which means we receive $5 but you’ll only pay $3.37.

So, for the cost of a coffee you can make a real difference to people with an intellectual disability.
