About SPLASH

SPLASH pitches your team against other corporate teams in a fun swim challenge while raising money for Special Olympics Australia. It’s a great team-building activity where you and your workmates have the chance to swim with an Olympian and show your commitment to inclusion!

SPLASH format

  • Your team of eight compete in 400m freestyle relays.
  • The top two teams in each heat advance to the final race.
  • The top fundraising team has first choice of an Olympian to join them.
  • Finalists compete, the crowd roars, the winning team is crowned!

Getting started is easy!

  1. Choose a captain and decide on a team name.
  2. Register your team and pay the entry fee.
  3. Invite team members to join and set up their fundraising page.
  4. Tell everyone and ask them to sponsor your swim.
  5. Start fundraising. The fundraising target for each team is $10,000.

About Special Olympics Australia

Special Olympics Australia brings sport, joy and inclusion to people with intellectual disability and autism through physical activity, health, leadership and lifestyle programs in communities across Australia.

Your impact

Providing opportunities to be physically active, make friends and be accepted can be a gamechanger for people with intellectual disability who are often left out. By taking part in SPLASH, you can help us promote inclusion, create joy and change lives. Just take a look at Sarah's story.

Meet Sarah

For many years, Sarah (right) sat on the sidelines watching her brother play sport. Sarah has a disability and because of that there just wasn’t anywhere safe for her to play. That was until her mum discovered Special Olympics Australia and signed her up for swimming.

Sarah enjoyed swimming and even swam with some Olympians in the SPLASH challenge. But when she discovered basketball she really moved from the sidelines to the spotlight.

This year, Sarah wore the green and gold to represent Australia in basketball at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin. It was the largest sporting event in the world with 7,000 athletes from 190 delegations. Sarah's team won bronze on the world stage with her mum watching from the stands.

Sarah says, “I feel so proud. I did my best for my country, but also for my mum who is always cheering me on.”
