Do Good and Feel Good, Together!
The Metcash Community Champions Challenge is back for a second year, and this year we want more people to do good and feel good.
All you need to do is get active for the month of October and raise funds to help our community partner – Special Olympics Australia – bring sport, joy and inclusion to more people with intellectual disability/autism in more communities, more often.
When we feel good, we bring our best self to work and that makes Metcash a great place to be!
So, register your team today and show that you are up to the challenge.
What’s the challenge?
We’re challenging you to set a fitness goal and achieve it between 1-31 October 2024, while raising money for our charity partner of 32 years, Special Olympics Australia. You can walk, run, roll or do whatever you like, as long as you get moving and can measure your goal! You can do it by yourself or, even better, have fun as a team.
As a participant your pledge is to:
- fundraise a minimum of $100 for Special Olympics Australia
- do good and feel good, together!

Do good
Set your goal and tell everyone the good you’re doing. Joining a team can be fun!
Feel good
Move, track your progress and enjoy the feeling of achievement.
Charity is in our DNA
Metcash has always been a proud charity supporter and we’re delighted to have supported Special Olympics Australia for 32 years. With our help, Special Olympics Australia continues to provide physical activity and lifestyle programs to people with intellectual disability/autism. This improves the wellbeing and social connection of themselves and their families.
Your impact
By taking part in the Metcash Community Champions Challenge you’re championing our commitment to community and our charity partner, Special Olympics Australia.
If you need inspiration to get moving, meet Special Olympics athlete Jacqui. Through perseverance, determination and the right support, Jacqui has been selected to represent Australia in tenpin bowling. With our help she can wear the green and gold in India this November. It will be her first time representing Australia and her first trip overseas.
Let’s do good and feel good, together.

We Support Inclusion
We know that many of our independent retailers employ people with intellectual disability/autism. One of those people is Special Olympics athlete Ariana who did work experience at her local IGA store. Thanks to the support of her manager and colleagues, she’s built the confidence and skills to progress to employment. She says, “I love it!”.
We Champion Community
“Our partnership with Special Olympics Australia is extra special because our values are so well aligned. The purpose of putting back the heart and sole into the community is very close to our hearts. Inclusion matters for us and this partnership matters...and I look forward many more years of this partnership.” Doug Jones, CEO, Metcash Group, 2023
We Create Joy
For 32 years, Metcash has helped Special Olympics Australia provide sport for people with intellectual disability/autism, whether that be in their local community or representing Australia on the world stage. Together, we create joy, friendship and belonging.
