I’m freezin’ for a reason!

🏀❄️ I'm taking the plunge — literally!

This year, I'll be jumping into icy water as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge, raising funds to support my journey to Basketball Nationals.

As a 20-year-old athlete playing basketball for the Sydney Northern Beaches Basketball Association, sport has shaped who I am. It has given me confidence, resilience, lifelong friendships, and opportunities I never imagined possible. This year will be my first time competing at Nationals, and I am incredibly excited to represent my team on the national stage.

I'm passionate about female empowerment in sport and creating opportunities for girls and young women to participate, grow, and thrive through physical activity. I hope that by pursuing my own sporting goals, I can inspire other girls to back themselves, stay involved in sport, and believe that they belong in every sporting space.

What makes this event even more meaningful is its support of Special Olympics Australia. Special Olympics is an inclusive community where everyone is welcomed, accepted, and valued. It provides opportunities for people with intellectual disability and developmental disability to participate in sport and physical activity, particularly those who may have previously struggled to access or feel included in mainstream sporting environments. Through sport, athletes develop confidence, friendships, independence, and a strong sense of belonging.

So yes, the water will be freezing... very freezing! But it's a small challenge for a cause that celebrates inclusion, opportunity, and the life-changing power of sport.
