I'm doing the Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics Illawarra

The Wollongong Polar Plunge on the 4th of July (known to some as Independence Day in the USA) is a significant event for our Illawarra club.

It's our largest fundraiser for our Special Olympics Illawarra Club and it's the best time of year for all the Illawarra to jump in the water, brave the winter blues and push out of your comfort zone in a small way to jump in the water briefly like many athletes like myself with Autism and intellectual disabilities have to do every day to be able to play sport or feel wholly included as a part of everyday society.

For me personally, this is my biggest fundraiser to get to the Special Olympics National Games in 2026 in Melbourne which is where I have been selected to go for Basketball to represent NSW in the Men's A Grade team from October 19-23. With your support, it would provide the necessary funding for me to be able to attend the tournament and compete to represent NSW and the Illawarra and do all of you proud in Wollongong and abroad. Your support would also help other Illawarra athletes to be able to attend the National Games too.

Unfortunately, the Special Olympics despite being known as the Olympics doesn't receive the same financial support as the Olympics and Paralympics so going to national and international tournaments unfortunately have to be paid out of pocket so any support for myself and our Illawarra club would be greatly appreciated. I would love to do the Illawarra proud in Melbourne and represent you all to the best of my abilities.
