About the 2026 National Games

From 19-23 October, Melbourne’s Albert Park sporting precinct will host thousands of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters in a week-long celebration of ability, empowerment and unity. This National Games marks 50 years of Special Olympics in Australia and showcases the strength of community through sport. 

Our mission is clear: to deliver a world-class event that celebrates athletes’ abilities, provides meaningful experiences for all participants, and creates an enduring legacy of inclusion and respect across Australia.
