About the 2026 National Games

From 19-23 October, Melbourne’s Albert Park sporting precinct will host thousands of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters in a week-long celebration of ability, empowerment and unity. This National Games marks 50 years of Special Olympics in Australia and showcases the strength of community through sport. 

Our mission is clear: to deliver a world-class event that celebrates athletes’ abilities, provides meaningful experiences for all participants, and creates an enduring legacy of inclusion and respect across Australia. 

The Special Olympics Australia National Games are proudly supported by the Significant Sporting Events Program and the Victorian Government’s Community Support Fund.
