Welcome from the Victorian Government
On behalf of the Victorian Government, I’d like to welcome you to the 2026 Special Olympics Australia National Games.
2026 marks 50 years of Special Olympics Australia changing lives through sport and creating a lasting legacy of opportunities for athletes with disabilities.
The National Games will bring together more than 850 athletes from across the country for five days of fierce competition as well as an opening ceremony not to be missed.
We’re proud to support this event through our Significant Sporting Events Program, which helps organisations to deliver national, international, or regionally significant sporting events.
Since 2014, the Program has secured more than 1,200 events for Victoria, boosting local jobs and economies, and showcasing our beautiful state.
Over the next five unforgettable days, athletes will represent their states and battle it out for glory in a competition that celebrates all abilities, challenges perceptions and creates lasting impact in communities across the country.
For visitors to our wonderful state, I encourage you to also explore all Melbourne has to offer, and I wish you all the best for your time in our city.
